Ifugao Dancing Bulul w/ Loin Cloth, Philippine

Sold. (5 photos on file)

Description

Here's a splendid "dancing bulul" figure standing on a scalloped base! He is beautifully carved and wears a traditional "oklop" hunters helmet retaining most of his original silk loin cloth. He shows terrific movement leaning forward with arms up and knees bent. Note how delicately the artist has defined the chest and shoulder blades. Lovely rich brown original patina from handling. This is a timeless piece of superb quality! The hands are broken off but this does little to detract from its overall impact. A professional restorer quoted me $300 for the work. That option is available to the buyer if desired.

Origin: Philippines Northern Luzon, Ifugao People
Period: Circa 1900-1920
Materials: Dark Hardwood, Silk
