An excellent quality heavy Panabas ( Tabas ) likely dating to the 19th century. this malicious chopping weapon doubled as a heavy wartime sword, axe and instrument of execution. The impressive curved blade is a full 7/16 inches (1 cm) at this thickest point and still has a very shape edge. The handle is comprised of two pieces of wood bound with a series of iron rings and wooden dowels. The pommel is fastened with a large iron ring and retains a loop of woven rattan binding. In very good condition. Since the wood has shrunk from age , some of the iron rings move. The wood has acquired a dark honey brown patina.
