A long traditional axe dating from Late 19th to early 20th century. It still retains most of its tightly woven rattan collar/sleeves on the shaft with a one inch section missing near the top. The axe has seen a lot a use and has acquired a dark varied patina on the wood shaft. There is some surface rust on the iron head. Some related examples can be seen on page 288 of “A Glossary of Arms and Armor” by George Cameron Stone.
