Collection of Bontoc Headhunter Spears and War Shields

The weapons in this collection are available individually or as group. I will say with confidence that these Bontoc war shields with four bands of rattan binging are the oldest I've had to date and in my opinion could easily date to 1880s. They have no doubt been used for generations. I've owned at least 40 of these over the years and these two are the oldest and best quality specimens yet. The six fighting spears (representing each type of iron head used) are also special in that each one has inset metal or tin decoration on the upper shaft which mimics the traditional Bontoc warrior tattooing often seen on the chest and arms.
